This is not Goodbye

As I dip my pen in the future,
to write about tomorrow.

Here I sit in a seat
That’s reserved to take me to nowhere.
Looking out the through the past,
At the ground that’s growing smaller under me

I am picturing a life,
without my friends by my side.
Could this be heartache
That I’m denying?

Close together, or miles apart,
My friends you all are and forever will be,
And if I could make another start,
I sure hope you would all be a part.

Like the exploding of a star,
You've changed me in and out,
Your light will travel with me far,
Even after all the other lights go out.

As dreams and wishes do come true,
for I know that someday we'll meet again.
So never forget,
That you will forever be in my thoughts.

All the laughter through all these years,
Will keep me content through a lifetime of sunrises.
So, now I look down and I ask myself.. "So Why?"
"Why do we have to say Goodbye?" :)

Seize the Day

So here I am at the supposed crossroads of my life. I've been told that this is the next big milestone in my life: My Graduation.

Why am I writing this blog !!?
Out of all the post-graduation advices I've got.. There was one piece of advice that got me thinking and it read something like this,

"You have your whole life to figure out where you are going to live and work. Live a little. You are only young once. But whatever you choose to do, do it whole-heartedly and don’t give up. Find your own path and remember that every other college graduate out there is going through his/her own turmoil just like you."

After thinking about it for some time. I ended up thinking.. hmmm that does make sense doesnt it.
So here we are, in our twenties, thinking that we’ll have another 40 years to go. Four decades in which to live long and prosper.
Bad news. Read the papers. There are people dropping dead when they’re 50, 40, 30 years old. Or quite possibly just after finishing their convocation. They would be very disappointed that they didn’t live the number of years they expected to.

This is the truth as I see it. Our life as we know it is over. When we were in college, all of us probably felt like it was never going to end. You felt untouchable, invincible, that you could do anything you wanted. Things change. Life is not fair. Everything does not balance out in the end. Life happens, and as much as we hate it, we have almost no control over it. Good and bad things happen to you day by day, hour by hour, moment by moment.

I've been told that I will have to 'Work' now. Get a job and do stuff people expect you to do.

I Won't !!
People who know me well will tell you that, I hate doing 'Work'.
Work is anything that you are compelled to do. By its very nature, it is undesirable.

There’s a common misconception that work is necessary. You will meet people working at miserable jobs. They tell you they are “making a living”. No, they’re not. They’re dying, frittering away their fast-extinguishing lives doing things which are, at best, meaningless and, at worst, harmful. Why waste the vast majority of my life doing something I hate, so that I can spend the small remainder sliver of my life in modest comfort.
I may never reach that end anyway.

I know there will be some who will say that it is easy for some to write and talk about it.So its up to you to figure out what is best for you..
As for me. I've decided to "Seize the Day". I'll go back to College, I miss that damned life too much. I feel there is still a lot I have to learn and Im not talking about the stuff books teach you. Of all the lessons I've learned in College the ones which mattered are the one I've learned outside the classroom.

So it's up to you to do what you love now. Before you will hate yourself for turning your life into a boring routine.

Socrates - The Perfect Philosopher (well almost perfect)

In ancient Greece (469 - 399 BC), Socrates was widely lauded for his wisdom.

One day an acquaintance ran up to him excitedly and said, "Socrates, do you know what I just heard about Diogenes?"

"Wait a moment," Socrates replied, "Before you tell me I'd like you to pass a little test. It's called the Triple Filter Test."'Triple filter?" asked the acquaintance.

"That's right," Socrates continued, "Before you talk to me about Diogenes let's take a moment to filter what you're going to say. The first filter is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?"

"No," the man said, "Actually I just heard about it."

"All right," said Socrates, "So you don't really know if it's true or not. Now let's try the second filter, the filter of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about Diogenes something good?"

"No, on the contrary..."

"So," Socrates continued, "You want to tell me something about Diogenes that may be bad, even though you're not certain it's true?"

The man shrugged, a little embarrassed. Socrates continued, "You may still pass the test though, because there is a third filter, the filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about Diogenes going to be useful to me?"

"No, not really."

"Well," concluded Socrates, "If what you want to tell me is neither True nor Good nor even useful, why tell it to me or anyone at all?"

The man was bewildered and ashamed. This is an example of why Socrates was a great philosopher and held in such high esteem.

It also explains why Socrates never found out that Diogenes was having an affair with his wife !! ;) :D

It's all gonna be over..

It rarely hits you, but when it does, it leaves you staring for help. A help that you know will never come. A help that you wish you had realized that you would need long ago.

A help, the longing for which, will ultimately leave you helpless.

When you wake up in the morning and have to decide on what to wear, and remember that time, when it was the same thing everyday. The uniform that you wore for the best part of your past is what you wish to wear. But it’s nowhere around. Its the same thing again....

When you’re sitting in college and looking at the other people in class and you realize: “Oh f***, its all gonna be over.”  When the professor yaps on in front of you and there’s someone snoring away to glory behind you; that’s when you realize. When you stare at all the people who surround you in college and your thoughts go back to a time not so long ago, when your small group seemed like the world and everything good in it. That: is when you realize.
When the phone ceases to ring, when songs start to make more sense, when things from the present remind you of the past; little things, like pointless chatter, or passing notes in class, or the spaces between hours, or for that matter anything that that reminds you of ‘before’, that’s when you realize that its over.
Life went by too fast. So fast that before you could come to terms with the fact that it was moving fast, it was over. You somehow wish that, someone had been there to tell you that one day, it’ll all be over. And when you come to think of it, there was always someone to tell you! You just never listened.

Its not that I hate what is going to happen, but it’s the fact that somehow I knew that this was going to happen, and yet, I didn’t see it coming.

When you know that the good times are going to end someday, you are expected to take the liberty of enjoying it as much as you can; every bit of it. But somehow, we take the decision not to, or we try and we fail. But we realize that we have failed, only when the bad times come around; which makes it inevitable.

Somehow, you manage to see a memory, in everything, out of nothing at all. When you smile at the thought of a memory that was provoked because of something you saw, or something that someone said. That’s when it hits you again: it’s gonna be over.

It’s true, life has to go on, and sooner or later all this will be memories. But, somewhere down the line, you will wish that if only it could keep going on like this. But all those are dreams not likely to be fullfilled.

Today I feel sad. I feel sad because I remember how it felt to be happy. Now, as I sit and think, I realize that all that’s good has come and gone, and might never come again. But I will not be bogged down by this. I will move on in life. I may fail, I may succeed. But when I look back, a long time from now, I won’t be sad that it’s over. There’s no point in doing that. I’ll just smile and be happy that it ever happened!

And I know that when I go round a corner someday, I’ll walk into a memory. And someday for sure the only thing I’ll have left will be memories, and for those memories, I will be grateful.

Friendship

Friends are far, friends are near,
Friends will be there to lend an ear,
They listen, laugh, and care,
But most of all, they're always there,
Through thick and thin, up and down,
Your true friends are always around,
For treats, hugs and real big smiles,
They'll travel to you from several miles,
They'll always be there to hold you tight,
Anytime, no matter if it's day or night..

Thank you for all the memories,
To all the ones I know and love :)

The Reality of Life

'He’s not perfect. You aren’t either, and the two of you will never be perfect.
But if he can make you laugh at least once, causes you to think twice, and if he admits to being human and making mistakes, hold onto him and give him the most you can.

He isn’t going to quote poetry, he’s not thinking about you every moment, but he will give you a part of him that he knows you could break.

Don’t hurt him, don’t change him, and don’t expect for more than he can give. Don’t analyze. Smile when he makes you happy, yell when he makes you mad, and miss him when he’s not there.

Love hard when there is love to be had. Because perfect guys don’t exist, but there’s always one guy that is perfect for you.'

The Spirit of My Life

Still standing here,
With hopes, dreams and
passion on my shoulder
But now, without any doubt.

Throw me some of your stares,
mixed with disdain and scathing reviews
Would I give a damn or show some care?
Its like diamonds meeting the morning dew.

In the end its me to be answered to
not another heart which beats semi-silent within

Life is a simple game,
sometimes you lose
and sometimes you win.

Just let it flow..
fighting for tomorrow
and learning from yesterday

So now as that once
far off horizon
Is looming into view
Becoming more in focus

Propel the soul and the life's motor,
since the highway's clear and the sky's not so blue
Then stick out the leather jacket collar
and ride into the inevitable storm

that's always waiting for me and you !!
